Boys in Indonesian Forest Sumatra (fonte Greenpeace)

Sumatra (fonte Greenpeace)

Young boys, sons of local fishermen on a canoe on the Serkap river, in peatland rainforest in Kampar Peninsula. The local population is heavily affected by the deforestation, which causes the land to dry out before the forest is turned into acacia or oil palm plantations. Enormous amounts of nutrients are drained out acidifying rivers, lakes and water streams. Since 1998 the fishing catch has dropped by 70 percent.
