Klamath, California, USA --- Ed Slater of Bether Island, CA fishes in the Iron Gate Resivour, a body of water behind the Iron Gate dam on the Klamath river in Northern California. Slater drove 6 hours for the fishing. "Anyone who sees this (picture) is gonna say that guys stupid but they ought to come up and try it. The Algae provides a cover for the fish. This whole place is one big bass hotel. In my 31 years of fishing I have never seen an algae bloom like this. Never! Its unbelievable." Toxic Blue Green Algae blooms have become increasingly frequent in the water behind several dams managed by Pacific Corp. Certain strains of Blue Green algae secrete a liver toxin and have been recorded at levels 4,000 times healthy limits in the Copco and Iron Gate Resivours.
