Global warming: the CNR exonerates the Sun

(Rinnovabili.it) – Global warming? Don’t blame the Sun. Solar radiation does not have a major role to play in overheating the planet; for the most part it is greenhouse gases to blame. This is what has emerged from a study carried out by Antonello Pasini and Alessandro Attanasio of the Air Pollution Institute of the National Research Council (CNR). The researchers, in collaboration with the University of L’Aquila, used the causal model developed by Clive Granger to assess how the role of radiation and the cause-effect relationship between the Sun and global temperatures have changed over time. And although the Sun was one of the main causes up until the 1950s, the CNR results specifically show, for the first time, that the importance of its role has gradually waned from the 1960s onwards, “until there came a point in the 1970s when the importance of the cause-effect relationship between the Sun and global temperatures all but disappeared”. The study also examined the influence of Man, noting that the causal relationship between greenhouse gases and temperatures has always been significant from the 1940s onwards and has intensified in recent decades.
